Description The Calcasieu Ranger District manages the Claiborne Trail. This trail offers a variety of recreation experiences within the Kisatchie National Forest that is actively managed to restore native environments. The Claiborne Trail is located in south Rapides Parish. It is where over 500,000 troops trained for WWII and was the 3rd largest city in Louisiana during those war years. The trails are available for ATV, Motorcycle, and Horse use. Hiking and biking are also allowed on Claiborne and Enduro Trails; however, they are primarily used for motorized and equestrian riders. There are more than 70 miles of Claiborne Multi-Use Trail. This trail loops through pine upland forest and consists of three separate loops that vary in distance and difficulty level: North Loop, 19 miles Woodworth Loop, 27 miles Boy Scout Loop, 31 miles Trail loops are marked with orange markings and the primary trailhead/staging area is the Loran Camp. Additional staging areas are at Ahtus Melder Camp (horses only) and Boy Scout Camp.
